Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

TIMSCDR is selected under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, a flagship program of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Government of India through a challenge mode application. The mission of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is to enable participating higher educational institutions to work with the people of rural India in identifying development challenges and evolving appropriate solutions for accelerating sustainable growth. It also aims to create a virtuous cycle between society and an inclusive academic system by providing knowledge and practices for emerging professions and to upgrade the capabilities of both the public and private sectors in responding to the development needs of rural India.

As a part of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan TIMSCDR selected the following five villages:

  • Vasai
  • Bendshil
  • Dahanu
  • Palghar
  • Jambhulpada

Energy Literacy Training

Energy is the driver of our social and economic growth, on the one hand, while on the other hand, excessive use of fossil energy has caused climate change. Becoming energy literate is the first step towards climate correction. Energy literacy training helps people in understanding energy, its generation, consumption and wastage. It helps to understand carbon footprint and its impact on the environment. Through this certified training course, one will understand means to avoid and minimize energy usage, how to become carbon neutral, clear misconceptions around solar energy and ways to adopt solar energy solutions.

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research, Kandivali(E), Mumbai under DLLE and UBA cell in association with Energy Swaraj Foundation conducted“Energy Literacy Training” from April to May 2022. The course is essential in the current scenario given the urgency to mitigate climate change and need to ensure energy sustainability among masses. Total 70 students completed the course.

Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (Veer Gatha)

UBA and DLLE Cell of TIMSCDR organized and celebrated Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav – Veer Gatha program on 25 January 2022. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate the independence of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. The speaker, Mr. Satyaki Savarkar, Sr. Sales Ops Analyst, Veritas Technologies LLC. delivered a motivational speech on life of Swatantryaveer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The speaker Mahila Shahir Ms. Vinata Joshi had put up the life of Rani Laxmibai in more traditional way through powada in front of the audience.  Total 201 participants participated in the event.

National Voters Day celebration

Voters Day Pledge

The DLLE and UBA Cell of TIMSCDR organized Pledge for casting vote on Election by keeping in mind every citizen of India to contribute to choosing the correct leader for their representation so that an elected leader of their legislative assembly or the parliament work towards building India on 25 January 2022.

Total 201 participants participated in the event.

Session on Solar Power

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research, Kandivali (E), Mumbai under DLLE and UBA cell in association with Energy Swaraj Foundation conducted awareness session on Solar Poweron 22 January 2022 by Prof. Chetan Solanki, Energy Swaraj Foundation. The objective of the webinar was to aware participants in understanding energy, its generation, consumption and wastage. Total 79 participants attended the session.

Poster/Video Making Competitionon the theme “Say No to Crackers/Green Diwali”

DLLE, UBA and MGNCRE cell of TIMSCDR organized Poster/Video Making Competition on the theme “Say No to Crackers/Green Diwali” from 20 October 2021 to 3 November 2021.

Objectives of the event:

  1. To make school/college students aware about the harmful effects of fire crackers like air pollution, noise pollution and its effect on human body.
  2. To understand importance of Green Diwali to save environment (pollution free environment)

Poster making competition was organized for school students from std. 5 to 12. Video making competitionwas organized for college students.

All participants appreciated with E-Participation Certificate.

Book Donation and Cloth Donation Drive

UBA and DLLE cell of TIMSCDR organized Book Donation and Cloth Donation Drive. Students and faculty members donated books and clothes. Donations were collected for Humanity Foundation, Palghar. Donations given by TIMSCDR were distributed to Ghaneghar, Kev Village, Taluka- Vikramgad on Friday, 29th October 2021 by Humanity Foundation.

Objectives:

  • To help people in need
  • To work towards DLLEmotto ‘Reach to the Unreach’, to facilitate the sensitization of the student to the socio-cultural realities

All participants received E-certificates of participation.

Poster and Video Making Competition on “COVID-19 Awareness”

To create awareness regarding COVID-19, especially in the rural areas, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, organized a ‘Poster and Video Making Competition for Students of Participating Institutes (PIs)’. 

TIMSCDR as one of the Participating Institute under UBA Cell participated in the competition by calling entries from the students for the competition from 1 July 2021 to 8 July 2021. Total 15 students submitted their entries. Out of 15 entries, following students were selected and appreciated by UBA with participation certificates:

 Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain Pledge

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research under DLLE (Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension), UBA (Unnat Bharat Abhiyan) and MGNCRE (Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education) Cell organized Jal Shakti Abhiyan campaign for water conservation and promoting the same by taking a pledge from Indian Citizens for judicious use of water, saving water bodies and harvesting rain water on 29 May 2021.Total 284participants participated in pledge. Participants got e-certificate of participation from Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.

Webinar on “Covid Survival Tips”

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research under UBA Cellconducted a webinar on “Covid Survival Tips” by Dr. Jyoti Shaligram, Homeopath Consultant on 17 May 2021 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The webinar is basically focused on protecting ourself from Covid-19, precautionary measures to be taken and how to boost our resistance power to fight Corona. Approximately, 40 villagers from the villages participated in the webinar and interacted with the doctor.

International Women’s Day celebration

UBA and WDC Cell ofTIMSCDR organized Online International Women’s Day in association with Aamhi Udyogini Prathishthan (AUP) on 8 March 2021. A guest talk on “Importance of Women Health” was conducted by Dr. Mukesh Gupta and Dr. Anjali Tayde.

Dr. Mukesh Guptadiscussed on women’s physical, emotional & psychological wellbeingand shared tips to take care of our self. Dr. Anjali Tayde share her success mantras on how to become a successful entrepreneur.125 participants participated in the event.

COVID-19 Vaccination Awareness Program

COVID-19 has set our lives into a New Normal. As we look ahead for the Vaccination to combat the Pandemic and get back to our Normal regime,Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research under UBA and DLLE Cell in association with D-Link India Limitedand M. K. Sanghvi College of Commerce & Economics organized an online COVID-19 Vaccination Awareness drive from 11 February 2021 to 30 April 2021.289 participants were appreciated with E-Participation Certificate.

Online training for School Teachers and Students on “Online Teaching and Learning through Google Classroom”

Due to COVID -19 pandemic, schools have shifted their base to virtual platforms to conduct online classes. To upskill teachers and students for online teaching and learning, DLLE and UBA cell of TIMSCDR has taken up the initiative to train school teachers and students on ‘Online Teaching and Learning’. The purpose for teachers training was to guide them through a step-by-step process to create google classroom, to create material, assignments and to grade assignments, schedule assignments etc. The purpose for students training was to guide them through a step-by-step process to use classroom for notes, assignment submissions etc. and make them equally confident and competent in the online classroom.

This training was conducted in following schools:

  1. Samta Vidya Mandir and High School, Kandivali on 2 January 2021 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm for teachers. Total 9 teachers attended training.

BMC School, Kandivali on 11 December 2020 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm for teachers and 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm for students. Total 3 teachers and 7 students of 8th std. attended

Jan Andolan campaign for COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour

UBA Cell of TIMSCDR organized Pledge for Jan Andolan campaign for COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour as per the instructions received from AICTE. The campaign emphasizes on “Unlock with precautions” i.e. COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour in the new normal.

The three key messages being highlighted are:

  • Wear Mask
  • Follow Physical Distancing
  • Maintain Hand Hygiene

To disseminate this information among all faculty members and students, a pledge was conducted through Google Form from 12 October 2020 to 14 October 2020. 127 participants participated in the pledge.

   
   
   

Webinar on National Education Policy (NEP) – 2020

Based on the T S R Subramanian Committee Report and the inputs from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), the Government of India, K Kasturirangan Committee has produced a comprehensive document of Draft National Education Policy 2019, in which Dr. Shakila T Shamsu was the Member Secretary of the draft committee. The Union Cabinet has approved the new National Education Policy (NEP)  on 30th July 2020. The country got a new education policy after a long gap of 34 years. From school education to higher education, it envisions to provide a new structure to the education system in the country. In the higher education system, the policy adopts an integrated yet flexible approach to education at undergraduate level emphasizing the need for liberal education for preparing students to navigate their way into the future with a variety of employment scenarios as well as many other roles they will play in their professions. At master’s level, the policy envisages to have strong research component to strengthen the appropriate professional competence in the domain area, and to prepare students for a research degree. Further the policy stresses on the importance of having a multi-disciplinary environment at higher education institutions.

To disseminate information on NEP 2020, UBA Cell of TIMSCDR organized two events as below:

  1. A webinar on awareness on National Education Policy (NEP–2020) on 21 September 2020 to sensitize students, parents and teachers about reforms in the national education policy.
  2. A quiz was conducted about the awareness on NEP and views from participants about the policy were also taken.

The webinar was organized on 21 September 2020 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm to create awareness amongst students, parents, teachers and citizens of India about National Education Policy (NEP) – 2020. The speaker, Dr. Vinita Gaikwad, Director, TIMSCDR addressed the participants on major reforms in school education, higher education, flexibility of subjects at undergraduate level, higher education level etc.

A quiz was conducted about the awareness on NEP and views from participants about the policy were also taken. 175 participants participated in both the events.

The report for the same is submitted to UBA, Govt. of India on 23 September 2020.

   

    

Energy Literacy certified course on “Learn to Design your own Solar System”

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research, Kandivali (E), Mumbai under “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan” in association with Energy Swaraj Foundation conducted Energy Literacy certified course on “Learn to Design your own Solar System” on 15 September 2020. The course is essential in the current scenario given the urgency to mitigate climate change and need to ensure energy sustainability among masses. Total 140 participants registered for the course and 82 participants cleared the certification exam.

    

Workshop on “Role of UBA PIs for Sustainable Rural and Tribal development in Aspirational Districts”

Faculty members of TIMSCDR participated in the workshop organized jointly by IIT Delhi and National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Under Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India on 16 July 2020 to 18 July 2020. The objective of the workshop was to find out the areas of interventions by the educational and technical institutions in such remote and backward districts presently named as Aspirational Districts by NITI Aayog. Total 15 faculty members participated in the workshop.

    

COVID-19 Awareness Program

The current global pandemic Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) outbreak has posed a very serious challenge to the entire world, including India.

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research, Kandivali (E), Mumbai under “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan” organized an online COVID-19 Awareness Quiz for the benefit of the society from 7 May 2020 to 25 May 2020. The quiz is based on general awareness about COVID-19 such as, symptoms, precautionary measures and government initiatives towards developing “Arogya Setu” app to fight against COVID-19. Total 385 participants from all over India were participated in the Quiz. Participants were appreciated with E-Participation Certificate.

    

Project Proposal on “Smart Irrigation: Efficient usage of Water and Electricity”

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research, Mumbai submitted a project proposal on “Smart Irrigation: Efficient usage of Water and Electricity” to avoid over irrigation to the plants on 28 April 2020 to UBA, Govt. of India

Objectives of the project involve the study of:

  1. Level of awareness amongst the farmers about the easily available and seamless Information Technology applications in Agriculture to overcome few or all the challenges faced by them during farming.
  2. To develop Smart Irrigation System which will irrigate the plants depending on the soil moisture and install the same in the farms to avoid over irrigation to the plants.
  3. To get up-to-date information about the irrigation on mobile phones in terms of SMS.
  4. To check the availability of water in the water reservoir, if any in the farms and notify the farmers, if the reservoir is empty through SMS.

The project proposal is still under scrutiny.

Advisory on Farming in the crisis hour of COVID19

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research, Kandivali (E), Mumbai under “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan” created WhatsApp group on 15 April 2020 of the adopted villages which includes Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) representatives to guide the villagers about the farming in the crisis hour of COVID19. KVK is a project of ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) for testing and transfer of Agricultural technologies at the grass root level. Especially, at this time under the crisis of COVID-19, it can provide handholding to our farmers in terms of weather data, market availability, and market price through KVK’s.

    

    

Village Visit to Vasai and Sange-Nane Village, Palghar

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research (TIMSCDR) organized one day visit to Vasai and Sange-Nane Village, Palghar under “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan” on 25 February 2020 to carry out household survey and village survey. More than 100 residents participated in the survey.

    

Village Visit Jambhulpada

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research (TIMSCDR) organized one day visit to Jambhulpada, Sudhagad Takuka, Raigad under “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan” on 18 November 2019 to conduct an awareness program on health, hygiene and ban on usage of plastic for the villagers. Faculty members and students interacted with villagers and school kids and addressed them on health, hygiene and ban on usage of plastic. Dr. Vinita Gaikwad, Director, TIMSCDR also interacted with Sarpanch, Jambhulpada and the Villagers on their issues or problems.

As part of education and reaching to the under privileged section of the Society, the Institute donated 30 tube lights and 2 ceiling fans for the village.

    
    

“One Student One Tree” Tree Plantation Drive

“One Student One Tree” is an initiative of Ministry of HRD in line with the idea of Green and Healthy environment. As a responsibility towards Mother Nature and contribution to this initiative, AICTE has recommended every institute to carry out a plantation drive. TIMSCDR under “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan” conducted a plantation drive on 23 August 2019 at Jambhulpada, Sudhagad Takuka, Raigad.

Total 89 students accompanied by 9 staff members were participated in this activity. In order to restore the eco-balance, this drive was taken with all seriousness. All the students were highly enthusiastic to make it a big success. The students planted saplings and watered the plants.

    

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Village Visit Sange-Nane Village, Palghar

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research (TIMSCDR) organized one day visit to Sange-Nane Village, Palghar under “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan” on 19 January 2019 to make villagers aware about Waste Management in villages. Faculty members interacted with villagers and addressed them on managing waste in villages. Dr. Vinita Gaikwad, Director, TIMSCDR interacted with Sarpanch, Sange-Nane Village, Palghar and the Villagers on their issues or problems.

A demonstration on the “Smart Irrigation System” developed by TIMSCDR was also given to the villagers for efficient usage of Water. A village survey was also conducted as a part of visit.
