DLLE

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE)

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development and Research is also a part of DLLE(Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension) project started by Mumbai University.

DLLE established on October 12, 1978 and has been recognized as a Statutory Department of the University of Mumbai since 1994 to promote a meaningful and sustained rapport between the Universities and the community. Its mission is to maintain the voice of helping professional focused on serving college and university students in a mental health setting. The working motto of DLLE is, ‘Reach to the Unreach’, to facilitate the sensitization of the student to the socio-cultural realities, the Department offers for the students, extension work projects encompassing social issues. The student is awarded Ten Additional Marks at the final exam for a project on completion of 120 hours of work and the submission of a project report which are undertaken by degree college students.

DLLE 2022-23

DLLE Cell of TIMSCR has taken two projects:

  1. Population Education Club (PEC)
  2. Survey of Women’s Status(SWS)

Total 188 students have registered for DLLE of which 94 have taken PEC project and remaining 94 SWS project.

The DLLE Cell was part of the following activities:

1. UDAAN

Students participated in the DLLE, UoM annual festival “UDAAN- the Flight of Extension- 2022-2023” on February 10, 2023 at Zagdu Singh Charitable Trust’s Thakur College of Science. The festival had the competitions like – Street Play, Poster, Powada singing, Elocution and Creative Writing

TIMSCDR students participated in Street Play Competition, Poster Competition, Elocution and Creative Writing Competitions. Institute has ranked Second in Street Play Competition. Topic for Street Play Competition was “Digital India”.

2. Thematic parade with theme “Women empowerment in Sports”

15 DLLE SWS members participated in Thematic parade with theme “Women empowerment in Sports” on 26th January 2023.

3. DLLE First Term Training Program

DLLE First Term Training Program was organized on January 12, 2023. DLLE Field Coordinator, Dr. Sujata Dhopte (Associate Prof., Malini Kishor Sanghvi College of Commerce & Economics, Vile Parle (W)) conducted the training program. All DLLE student members attended the program.

4. Voters Day Competitions

DLLE and UBA cell of TIMSCDR organized various competitions like Essay writing, make a Meme, Short film making, Poster making, Slogan writing, Song writing to celebrate National Voters Day from January 9- 24, 2023.

Offline poster making competition was held on January 11, 2023 on the theme “My Right of   Voting in Election” and “Women Empowerment”.

5. G20 Summit Quiz

DLLE cell of TIMSCDR taken initiative to spread awareness about G-20 summit. DLLE members attempted quiz on G-20 Summit from January 9-26, 2023.

5. AUPBX Award Ceremony

10 DLLE members and two faculty members attended the nextGEN awards show on December 17, 2022 which was organized by AUPBX.

6. Energy Literacy Training

All DLLE members attended 5 hours online “Energy Literacy Training” organized by Energy Swaraj Foundation from December 15-31, 2022.

7. Constitution Day Celebration

TIMSCDR celebrated Constitution Day on November 25, 2022. DLLE members participated in the same by reading of Preamble to the Constitution through: readpreamble.nic.in and attempting Online Quiz on “India-the Mother of democracy”.

8. Celebration of ‘Unity Day’ on the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel from October 25-31, 2022

Institute celebrated Unity Day on the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

To honor the patriotism of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and to reinforce his teaching and values. DLLE cell of TIMSCDR prepared questionnaire on life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

9. Participated in Indian Swacchata League on September 17, 2022 organized by Mira Bhayander Corporation.

TIMSCDR Students participated in “Rally of Youth for Garbage Free Beaches, Hills and Tourist Places on September 17, 2022 organized by Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation as a part of the Indian Swachhata League (India’s first inter-city competition led by youth towards building Garbage Free Cities).

   

10. Tree plantation drive

 DLLE cell of TIMSCDR conducted Tree Plantation Drive on August 15, 2022.

11. Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav on 15 August 2022.

Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (MyGov Quiz)

As a part of Independence Day Celebrations, 2022, an online quiz competition on the subjects of “75 years of India’s Freedom- Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” & “Contribution of Freedom Fighters in India’s Independence” conducted by Ministry of Defence in coordination with MyGov.in during  July 26 – August 10, 2022 in order to create patriotic feeling among youth and masses.

DLLE 2021-22

DLLE cell of Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research (TIMSCDR) organized following activities in A.Y. 2021-22

 1. Energy Literacy Training

Energy is the driver of our social and economic growth, on the one hand, while on the other hand, excessive use of fossil energy has caused climate change. Becoming energy literate is the first step towards climate correction. Energy literacy training helps people in understanding energy, its generation, consumption and wastage. It helps to understand carbon footprint and its impact on the environment. Through this certified training course, one will understand means to avoid and minimize energy usage, how to become carbon neutral, clear misconceptions around solar energy and ways to adopt solar energy solutions.

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research, Kandivali(E), Mumbai under DLLE and UBA cell in association with Energy Swaraj Foundation conducted “Energy Literacy Training” from  April to May 2022. The course is essential in the current scenario given the urgency to mitigate climate change and need to ensure energy sustainability among masses. Total 70studentscompleted the course.

  1. Survey on “Self Employed Woman” were conducted by SWS members and report generated.
  2. SWS members attended session organized by Aamhi Uydyogini Pratisthan(AUP) at Venue: Sane Guruji Vidhyalya, Vikhoba Vaman Patare Road, Shivaji Park, Dadar West on occasion of Womans Day Celebration on 10 March 2022.
  3. WDC and SWS cell of DLLE organized training on “Self Defense” on 10 March 2022 by Sachin Chavan for Girls students.

TIMSCDR WDC and SWS DLLE cell organized Self Defense training for girl students and Women staff members on 10 March 2022 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The training was conducted by Shihan Sachin Chavan, Karatenomichi World Federation India ( KWF ) Chief Instructor, Leader and representative of KWF which includes Orientation and Judo/ Karate training.

  1. Organized guest lecture on “Woman’s Menstrual Health” on 8 March 2022 by Dr. Nilima Vaidya on the occasion of Woman’s day for girls students.
  2. UDAAN

Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension(DLLE), UoM organized its annual festival “UDAAN- the Flight of Extension- 2021-2022” from 8 March 2022 to 10 March 2022.

The following Competitions organized in ONLINE MODE:

  3. Powada singing (One Entry each college)

 TIMSCDR participated in Short Film / Video Making, Poster Competition and Creative Writing Competitions. Institute own Second Rank in Short Film / Video Making Competition. Topic for Short Film / Video Making Competition was “Woman Entrepreneurship”.

  1. Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav(Veer Gatha)

 UBA and DLLE Cell of TIMSCDR organized and celebrated Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav – Veer Gatha program on 25 January 2022. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate the independence of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. The speaker, Mr. Satyaki Savarkar, Sr. Sales Ops Analyst, Veritas Technologies LLC. delivered a motivational speech on life of Swatantryaveer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The speaker Mahila Shahir Ms. Vinata Joshi had put up the life of Rani Laxmibai in more traditional way through powada in front of the audience.  Total 201 participants participated in the event.

The DLLE and UBA Cell of TIMSCDR organized Pledge for casting vote on Election by keeping in mind every citizen of India to contribute to choosing the correct leader for their representation so that an elected leader of their legislative assembly or the parliament work towards building India.

  1. Session on Solar Power on 22 January 2022

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research, Kandivali (E), Mumbai under DLLE and UBA cell in association with Energy Swaraj Foundation conducted awareness session on Solar Poweron 22 January 2022 by Prof. Chetan Solanki, Energy Swaraj Foundation. The objective of the webinar was to aware participants in understanding energy, its generation, consumption and wastage.Total 79 participants attended the session.

 I) National Education Day Celebration

IIC and DLLE cell of TIMSCDR celebrated National Education Day in commemoration of birth anniversary of independent India’s first education minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, by organizing Elocution Competition on 26 November 2021.

Objectives of the event:

• To highlight the importance of education

• To make the students expressive, confident and professional in public speaking

• To inculcate among students the art of effective public speaking

Topics for competition were:

•Importance of National Education Day

• National Education Policy (NEP)

• Impact of Globalization on Education

• Impact of Covid-19 on Education

• Online vs Offline Education

• Online Learning Platform

Participating Students were given participation e-certificate & first three winners awarded with winner’s e-certificate.

II) Poster/Video Making Competition

DLLE, UBA and MGNCRE cell of TIMSCDR organized Poster/Video Making Competition on the theme “Say No to Crackers/Green Diwali” from 20 October 2021 to 3 November 2021.

Objectives of the event:

• To make school/college students aware about the harmful effects of fire crackers like air pollution, noise pollution and its effect on human body.

• To understand importance of Green Diwali to save environment (pollution free environment)

Poster making competition was organized for school students from std. 5 to 12. Video making competition was organized for college students.

All participants appreciated with E-Participation Certificate.

III) Book Donation and Cloth Donation Drive

DLLE cell of TIMSCDR organized Book Donation and Cloth Donation Drive.Students and faculty members donated books and clothes. Donations were collected for Humanity Foundation, Palghar. Donations given by TIMSCDR were distributed to Ghaneghar, Kev Village, Taluka- Vikramgad on Friday, 29th October 2021 by Humanity Foundation.

Objectives:

• To help people in need.

• To work towards DLLE motto ‘Reach to the Unreach’, to facilitate the sensitization of the student to the socio-cultural realities.

IV) TIMSCDR DLLE cell initiative to motivate students to enroll for E-Waste Management online course on Udemy

Students from Sem. III attended E-Waste Management online course.

V) DLLE cell of TIMSCDR has taken up an initiative to promote YuWaah Echoes – by Young Warrior movement activities such as knowledge sessions, talks, presentations, competitions and challenges organized by AICTE in collaboration with UNICEF- YuWaah and 1350+ other collation partners from 30 August 2021 to 4 September 2021.

The Young Warrior movement enables young people to take action against COVID-19 and cumulatively impact the lives of millions of people within their families and communities.

Students participated in following activities by taking a pledge to ensure that they will observe and amplify COVID-appropriate behaviors.

• Solve-A-thon: An innovation challenge for the Youth on COVID 19

• Artists Unite: Hybrid space for youth to self-expression through art

• COVID Academy: Attend knowledge building sessions around COVID 19

• Quiz Masters: A multilevel quiz on COVID 19

Students who completed one or more of the above-mentioned activities earned a certificate from UNICEF.

DLLE 2020-21

In A.Y. 2020-21, total 103 students registered for DLLE. Institute has taken up Population Education Club (PEC) project. Extension work students successfully participated in all DLLE activities conducted by institute. DLLE cell of TIMSCDR conducted following activities in the A.Y. 2020-21.

Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain Pledge

Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research under DLLE (Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension), UBA (Unnat Bharat Abhiyan) and MGNCRE (Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education) Cell organized Jal Shakti Abhiyan campaign for water conservation and promoting the same by taking a pledge from Indian Citizens for judicious use of water, saving water bodies and harvesting rain water on 29 May 2021.Total 284 teaching, non-teaching staff members and students participated in contest. Participants got e-certificate of participation from Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.

COVID-19 Vaccination Awareness Program

COVID-19 has set our lives into a New Normal. As we look ahead for the Vaccination to combat the Pandemic and get back to our Normal regime,Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research under UBA and DLLE Cell in association with D-Link India Limitedand M. K. Sanghvi College of Commerce & Economics organized an online COVID-19 Vaccination Awareness drive from 11 February 2021 to 30 April 2021.289 participants were appreciated with E-Participation Certificate.

DLLE Second Year student members prepared java quiz for first year students. Java Quiz was given to First Year Students on 12 March 2021. Total 168 first year students participated in quiz.

Guest lecture on Woman Power Sutra’s by Dr. Sujata Dhopte, DLLE Field Coordinator

DLLE and WDC cell of TIMSCDR organized guest lecture on “Woman Power Sutras” by Dr. Sujata Dhopte, Associate Professor, M.K.Sanghvi College of Commerce & Economicson 2nd March 2021 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Lecture was focused on Gender stereotypes in media. Dr. Sujata enlightened on the how objectification and sexualization of girl in the media is linked to violence against woman and girls worldwide.Also, explained about why woman and girls often victims of violence.The Session was very much motivating, it was inspiring as well.Dr. Sujata has shared positive messages with different examples which leads to be cheerful,happy, as well as energetic and come as a strong human.

Mascot Naming and Design Contest

To promote International Day of Yoga (IDY)-2021 scheduled to be held on 21st June 2021,Ministry of AYUSH(MoA),Government of India(GoI) was announced mascot for International Day of Yoga (IDY) on the eve of IDY-2021 observance and had invited concepts and designs for mascot from all the Indian citizens, educational, training and research institutions, agencies and interested organizations within India in the month of January 2021. DLLE cell of TIMSCDR taken up initiative and organized Mascot Naming and Design Competition for International yoga day from 12 January 2021 to 25 January 2021 for MCA Second year students and from 2 February 2021 to 12 February 2021 for MCA First year students. Total 10 students of 1st Year, 2nd Year and 3rd Year MCA participated in contest.

Online training for School Teachers and Students on “Online Teaching and Learning through Google Classroom”

Due to COVID -19 pandemic, schools have shifted their base to virtual platforms to conduct online classes. To upskill teachers and students for online teaching and learning, DLLE and UBA cell of TIMSCDR has taken up the initiative to train school teachers and students on ‘Online Teaching and Learning’. The purpose for teachers training was to guide them through a step-by-step process to create google classroom, to create material, assignments and to grade assignments, schedule assignments etc. The purpose for students training was to guide them through a step-by-step process to use classroom for notes, assignment submissions etc. and make them equally confident and competent in the online classroom.

This training was conducted in following schools:

1.Samta Vidya Mandir and High School, Kandivali on 2 January 2021 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm for teachers. Total 9 teachers attended training.

2.BMC School, Kandivali on 11 December 2020 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm for teachers and 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm for students. Total 3 teachers and 7 students of 8th std. attended training.

Jan Andolan campaign for COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour

UBA and DLLE Cellof TIMSCDR organized Pledge for Jan Andolan campaign for COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour as per the instructions received from AICTE. The campaign emphasizes on “Unlock with precautions” i.e., COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour in the new normal.

The three key messages being highlighted are:

• Wear Mask

• Follow Physical Distancing

• Maintain Hand Hygiene

To disseminate this information among all faculty members and students, a pledge was conducted through Google Form from 12 October 2020 to 14 October 2020. 126 participants participated in the pledge.

DLLE 2019-20

107 students registered for DLLE. Institute has taken up two projects namely, Survey of Women’s Status (SWS) and other project is Population Education Club (PEC).

UDAAN-2020

The Department of Life Long Learning and Extension(DLLE), University of Mumbai had its annual festival UDAAN: The Flight Of Extension at university level. TIMSCDR students participated in poster making and street play competitions during the festival.

The fest “UDAAN-2020” was held at St. Francis Institute of Management and Research, Borivali (W) on 1st February 2020. TIMSCDR students bagged First Prize in street play competition on Social Awareness topic “Once upon a time on EARTH”. They also scored first prize in Poster making competition.

DLLE 2018-19

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) under the University of Mumbai, works on the motto of ‘Reach to the Unreach’, to facilitate  sensitization of the students to the socio-cultural realities. Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development and Research (TIMSCDR) is also a part of DLLE (Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension) project. This project  offers the students, extension work projects encompassing social issues. The students are awarded Ten Additional Marks at the final exam for completion of 120 hours of project work.

153 students registered for DLLE. This year Institute has taken up two projects namely, Status of Women in Society (SWS) and other project is Population Education Club (PEC).

• Status of Women in Society (SWS)
Students interact with economically and educationally backward women residing in the nearby slum and explain importance of education for their upliftment.

• Population Education Club (PEC)
Students conduct variety of activities on Social Causes to make our society aware.

UDAAN-2019
The department has its annual festival known as UDAAN: The Flight Of Extension. There are two competitions held under this festival-poster making competition and street play at university level.
The DLLE Annual fest “UDAAN-2019” was held at St Gonsalo Garcia College, vasai  on 16 February  2019. TIMSCDR students performed Street Play on Social Awareness topic “Haye ye kachra pareshan” .
TIMSCDR DLLE students bagged First Prize in street play competition. TIMSCDR students also participated for Poster Making Competition, The Posters made by students were very creative and clearly reflected its message to the viewers.

Cleanliness and Safe Driving

An awareness rally was organized on 07 September 2018 by students of TIMSCDR on cleanliness and safe Driving, students and staff members participated in the rally to create awareness of cleanliness and safe driving among people . Students created good awareness poster and hold the poster on hands during the rally to convey the message to people .The entire event was a success with a strong message being imparted to the society of maintaining cleanliness and safe driving.

 

DLLE 2017-18
For year 2017-18, 172 students have registered. This year institute has taken up two projects namely, Status of Women in Society (SWS) and other project is Population Education Club (PEC).

This activity has been designed to encourage the students to understand that till today some women are suffering because of their education deprivation. These women are some of the underprivileged women. Our students will find out such women in close vicinity and educate them.

• Population Education Club (PEC)
The main focus and the importance of this project is to educate the population on some vital issues with the help of street plays or seminars or posters making.

Udaan 2018

Street Play and Poster Making competition were based on the projects undertaken by the institute, in our case, Status of Women in Society and Population Education Club. The Posters made by students were very creative and clearly reflected its message to the viewers. Street Play performed by the students was full of energy, enthusiasm and intensity.

TIMSCDR students performed Street Play on Social Awareness topic “JALDI KARO, DER HO JAAYEGI  . It raised the issue of how everybody is busy in their lives and always in a hurry. It brought into focus incidents like Elphinstone Railway Station Stampede that could have been avoided with just a little bit of care.
TIMSCDR students participated for Poster Making Competition.
The felicitation ceremony was graced by Dr. Dilip Patil, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) and the winners were awarded with the trophy and certificates.
They also secured 2nd place in both cultural fest, MAMOS 2018 & D Fest  held at KES Shroff College of Arts and Commerce college.

Rally for Rivers(nadi Abhiyan)

Rally for Rivers was organized by Thakur Institute of Management Studies Career Development & Research on 1st September 2017 at 10:30 AM. All the faculty staff along with students went for rally for the cause of saving rivers. Students, holding banners in hands, enthusiastically went around the nearby locality of the college. Various pamphlets and banners were made in order to convey the message. People on the road were explained about the side effects of the growing pollution and decrease of river water. They were asked to support the movement by just giving a missed call to 80009 80009. Students chanted the Rally for Rivers “Save Our Rivers!!!" in full emotion and tried their best to out reach to as many people as possible.

Since it was for everyone’s benefit people took it seriously and supported the mission by giving the missed call. Since all the staff and students took active participation, the rally proved to be successful and many people came forward to support the movement. We hope all our efforts will be fruitful and they will contribute towards the wellbeing of the rivers.

 

DLLE 2016-17

For year 2016-17, 181 students have registered. This year institute has taken up two projects namely, Status of Women in Society (SWS) and other project is Population Education Club (PEC).

Street Play and Poster Making competition were based on the projects undertaken by the institute, in our case, Status of Women in Society and Population Education Club. The Posters made by students were very creative and clearly reflected its message to the viewers. Street Play performed by the students was full of energy, enthusiasm and intensity.

TIMSCDR students performed Street Play on Social Awareness and were successful in pleasing the audience by their enthralling performance. TIMSCDR bagged 2nd prize for Poster Making Competition. The felicitation ceremony was graced by Dr. Dilip Patil, Co-ordinator, Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) and the winners were awarded with the trophy and certificates

DLLE 2014-15

For year 2014-15, 170 students have registered. This year institute has taken up two projects namely, SWS (Status of Women in Society) and other project is PEC (Population Education Club).
• Status of Women in Society (SWS)

This activity has been designed to encourage the student to understand that till today some women are suffering because of their education deprivation. These women are some of the underprivileged women. Our students will find out such women in close vicinity and educate them.

• Population Education Club (PEC)

The main focus and the importance of this project is to educate the population on some vital issues with the help of street plays or seminars or posters.

Street Play and Poster Making were based on various issues like Status of Women in Society, ICT(Information and Communication Technology), Social Awareness etc. The Posters made by students were very creative and clearly reflected its message to the viewers. Street Play performed by the students was full of energy, enthusiasm and intensity.

The felicitation ceremony was graced by Dr. Dilip Patil, Co-ordinator, Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) and the winners were awarded with the trophy and certificates.

DLLE 2013-14
250 students registered for DLLE activity. There are seven types of Extension Work Projects that are being offered by the department. The institute took up 2 of these projects based on the choices of registered students;
• Status of Women in Society (SWS)

UDAAN 2014

UDAAN 2014 was organized by The Department Of Life Long Learning and Extension(DLLE) on 20th January 2014 in Kiran Devi Saraf Institute, Malad(W).The program started from 9.30 am onwards with the enchanting of University Song ,following speech given by Mr. Dilip Patil ,Director of DLLE. The festival had Poster making and Street play competition in which 17 different colleges had participated. Approximately, 300 students and 30 extension teachers attended the festival.

The felicitation ceremony was graced by Mr. Dilip Patil and the winners were awarded with the trophy and certificates. The festival was a very good experience to meet creative people and learn more from them.

DLLE 2013-2014

166 students registered DLLE activity. There are seven types of Extension Work Projects are being offered by the department. The institute took up 2 of these projects based on the choices of registered students;

  • Anna Poorna Yojana (APY)

This activity has been designed to encourage the student to try their hand at entering the field of small scale business. Hence this activity is designed to make students understand the concept of small scale business and increase self reliance approach.

  • Information Technology Project (ITP)

The main focus and the importance of Information Communication Technology  project is to prepare students with the required skills in handling  ICT enabled services,  and to provide students the learning  opportunities to access different options available under the ICT,

Every year the Department organizes an evaluation process through arranging an Annual Extension Work Festival district wise in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. Students of Extension Work from various colleges come together and give Performances through Skits and Exhibit Posters on the activities undertaken by them and present their actual efforts in the form of street play and poster competition and share their views with each other. The Best Performances and Best Displays are also awarded prizes based on the recommendations of the panel of Expert Judges.
