On 17 January 2015, International Conference on Advances in Information Technology and Management: ICAIM 2015 was organized in association with CSI Mumbai chapter.
The objective of this conference was to learn and discuss innovations in technology and to encourage students to be research oriented and to motivate them for R&D activities. The Conference covered varied areas of IT like Open Source Software awareness and overview, Computational Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Big Data and Data Analytics etc.
Dr. Rajpal Hande, Director, BCUD, University of Mumbai was the chief guest. Dr. S.K. Ukarande, Dean, Faculty of Technology, University of Mumbai and Dr. Manish Gupta, Vice President at Xerox Corporation and Director of Xerox Research Centre, India were the guest of honor. The conference was graced by the presence of Prof. Sureshchandra Gupta, Vice Chairman, CSI- Mumbai Chapter. The conference was graced by the presence of eminent speakers from different professions like Mr. Milind Mungale, Sr. Vice President and CISO at NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited; Advocate Prashant Mali, renowned Cyber Law & Cyber Security Expert and Author; Dr. Parag Kulkarni, Director at Anomaly Solutions Pvt Ltd, CEO and Chief Scientist at EKLaT Research; Mr. Ritvij Parikh, CEO, Pykih Software Llp, Mumbai; Mr. Priten Bangdiwala, Head of Digitization and VP Group IT, Aditya Birla Group IT leadership team.
The conference started with the unveiling of the Conference Proceedings by the Chief Guest .The ICAIM-2015 proceedings contains 35 papers selected after a rigorous review process by a highly skilled and diverse Review Committee .The welcome speech was given by our I/c Director Dr. Vinita Gaikwad. She stressed upon the importance of research in the academic routine of the Post Graduate students of the MCA course. She also emphasized on the necessity of valid, job oriented certification courses for making students more IT Industry oriented. The Director, BCUD, Dr. Rajpal Hande shared his deep insight and vast experience of research and development activities in India and particularly in University of Mumbai. He also spoke about the relevance of the theme of the conference and elaborated upon the plan of action of the new initiatives to be taken by the University in the field of R&D.The Dean of Technology, Dr. Suresh Ukarande also echoed his views and stressed upon the point that all Institutes should hold such kind of conferences to make innovations and progress in R&D.
Dr. Manish Gupta spoke at length about the journey of IT from Cray’s Supercomputer to today’s mobile computing and how Xerox is working towards innovations in the area of Health Care, Transportation and Education.
Another eminent speaker Advocate Prashant Mali discussed nuances of legal aspects of cyber law and hacking to a full capacity captivated audience.
Mr. Ritvij Parikh dealt with data analytics and how it can be a game changer for business world in web mining.
Mr. Milind Mungale discussed at length on the evolution of computers with Internet and how it has revolutionized things starting from social interaction to taxi services.
Dr. Parag Kulkarni stressed upon the point that R&D should be aimed at innovation and social causes only and not for the personal benefit.
The Valedictory Function was graced by Mr. Priten Bangdiwala. He enlightened and enthralled us with his own story on the journey of life to become a Vice President of Aditya Birla Group at an age of just 28 years.
The conference was a tremendous success in all aspects and succeeded in providing a common arena to all academicians, corporate decision makers, economists and policy makers to discuss the challenges ahead in global business environment and how IT can facilitate in all functional areas of management practices.
