Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development & Research (TIMSCDR) in association with Association of Medical Consultants (AMC), Mumbai organized an International Conference on Advances in Information Technology and Management (ICAIM-2016) titled “Leveraging Information Technology for Better Healthcare” on 20-21 February, 2016.
It aims to bring together research scholars and intellectuals from Medical and Information technology (IT) fraternity on a common platform to discuss and deliberate on the issues confronting the demand to look for solutions. The challenges of medical education, the responses and preparedness to deal with them with the advancement of IT will also be reflected upon.
About 400 delegates and intellectuals from academia, industry and research Institutions in the Medical, Pharmaceutical Science and IT industry participated in the conference for the exchange of ideas and findings pertaining to use, readiness and challenges of IT in healthcare.
The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Avinash Supe, Dean, KEM Hospital and Seth G.S. Medical College, Mumbai and presided over by Dr. Sudhir Naik, President, AMC.
The conference started with the unveiling of the Conference Proceeding by the Chief Guest in the presence of AMC President Dr. Sudhir Naik, AMC Secretary Dr. Mukesh Gupta, I/c. Director, TIMSCDR, Dr. Vinita Gaikwad and other dignitaries. The ICAIM-2016 Proceeding contains 142 papers selected after a rigorous review process by a highly skilled and diverse Review Committee. The welcome speech was given by I/c Director Dr. Vinita Gaikwad. Chief Guest Dr. Avinash Supe shared his deep insight and vast experience and spoke at length on how IT can help to improve Healthcare services at various levels and to varied extent.
The programme included invited talks on National electronic Health Authority (NeHA) by Dr. Saurabh Dani, Cyber Security by Mr. Mukund Pawar, Mumbai Police, Digitalizing Medical Records by Mr. Mohan Ramani, Business Dev. Director Anoto, IoT and its Use in Healthcare by Mr. Pramod Mishra & Mr. Imran, Project Managers from built.io and also an elaborate talk on safe online banking practices by Mr. Vinod Pawar, Head, HSBC Cyber Security.

The Conference provided an interactive forum to the researchers, public health providers and policy makers who have been engaged in addressing the Use of IT in health care with problems and solutions.
The research paper presentations by scholars and workshop on Internet of Things (IoT) conducted by TIMSCDR were part of the pre-conference schedule. More than 120 research papers were presented on inter-disciplinary subjects judged by eminent professionals from IT and Healthcare Sector. The workshop included the training on Arduino and Raspberry-Pi to create smart health system and smart home.

Training in the form of workshops was also conducted for the doctors on the second day of the conference. Workshop covered the topics on Cyber Security, Basics of IT, Search Engine Optimization, Social Media Presence, Digital Marketing, Document Management, Netbanking and Online Trading. Doctors found the training very useful for their daily work and research activities.
