ISTE Approved STTP – 2024 on “Information Technology in Agriculture and Healthcare for Sustainability – Viksit Bharat”

TIMSCDR conducted a 2-week ISTE approved Short Term Training Program (STTP), in association with CSI, Mumbai Chapter from June 18, 2024 –June 29, 2024. The theme of this year's STTP was Information Technology – Women Empowerment. The STTP started with our Director, Dr. Vinita Gaikwad address, wherein she welcomed all delegates and participants.

The first day of our Staff Training and Team-building Program (STTP) started with an adventure-packed picnic at Sajan Resort. We began with snacks, Antakshari, and dancing on the bus, setting a lively tone. The day was filled with thrilling activities like valley crossing, Tarzan Swing, archery, and ladder climbing. Highlights included a fun rain dance and a refreshing swim. We concluded the day with a hearty breakfast, lunch, and tea with bhajiya, followed by group photos and lots of laughter, which helped to strengthen our team bond.

The second day of STTP started with a rejuvenating yoga session led by Ms. Supriya Baikerikar. She guided us through physical postures, breathing exercises, and mindfulness practices aimed at enhancing physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The session included gentle warm-ups, yoga postures, and a relaxing cooldown.In the afternoon, Ms. Vineeta Gupta conducted a session on achieving work-life balance through Sahaja Yoga Meditation. She explained the subtle system, chakras, and the awakening of kundalini energy, demonstrating a meditation process to help participants achieve inner harmony and balance.

The third day of STTP started with a workshop on intellectual property rights led by Dr. Bharat Suryawanshi. He covered copyrights, patents, trademarks, and trade secrets, emphasizing the importance of protecting innovation and providing insights into the patent application process.In the afternoon, Dr. Yelloji Mirajkar presented on the “Aahaar Kranti" initiative, discussing the impact of India’s carbohydrate-centric diet on health issues like diabetes and obesity. He critiqued the Indian Diet Pyramid and advocated for a nutrient-rich diet based on Ayurvedic principles. Dr. Rashmi Kulkarni highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition in preventing diseases, while Dr. Srinivasa K. Rao discussed biofortification under the “Poshan Abhiyan" scheme.

The fourth day of STTP started with Mr. Rajesh Patalia discussing digital marketing, focusing on its importance, technological impact, and the need for ethical practices in the digital age.In the afternoon, Dr. Seema Jagtap highlighted traditional water management techniques from ancient India, advocating for integrating these sustainable practices with modern methods for effective water resource management.

The fifth day of STTP began with Mrs. Sonal Desai’s session on “Plastic RRR," where she stressed the importance of reducing, recycling, and reusing plastic to support sustainability. She provided practical tips for minimizing plastic use and highlighted its environmental impacts.In the afternoon, Dr. Rajesh Bansode discussed the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) for postgraduate programs. He emphasized the policy’s goal to reduce illiteracy and improve employability by enhancing foundational education and its broader impact on society.

The sixth day of STTP featured Mr. Kunal Khandelwal’s session on MATLAB. He provided an overview of MATLAB’s programming constructs and its applications for data processing, visualization, and statistical analysis. Participants practiced using MATLAB’s built-in functions for complex tasks and explored online training options, including the “Clean and Prepare Data for Analysis" course, with encouragement to pursue certifications.

The seventh day of STTP featured Mr. Kunal Khandelwal’s continuation of the MATLAB workshop. He demonstrated MATLAB's visualization functions, guiding participants in creating and customizing 2D and 3D plots, including line graphs, scatter plots, histograms, and surface plots. Participants practiced advanced graphics capabilities for interactive data exploration. The workshop concluded with Mr. Khandelwal’s thanks and a significant number of participants earning their certifications.

The eighth day of STTP featured Ms. Devanshi Sihare from Tinker Labs, who led a one-day workshop on Design Thinking. She introduced the Design Thinking lifecycle—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test, and Iterate—using various case studies. Participants were divided into groups and tackled case studies on reducing screen time and mitigating sleep disorders. This hands-on approach allowed them to apply the Design Thinking process, fostering creativity and practical problem-solving skills.

The Ninth Day of STTP began with Mr. and Mrs. Afzal Khatri discussing water and land conservation, emphasizing India's water crisis and the need for effective management and sustainable practices. They highlighted successful projects and advocated for using AI and conscious intelligence for environmental care. In the second session, Ms. Anjali Mogare explored AI's role in healthcare, covering advancements in diagnostics, personalized treatments, and drug discovery. She discussed AI’s applications and potential challenges, providing insights into career opportunities in AI and healthcare.

The Tenth Day of STTP began with Dr. Umakant Butkar from VB Solutions discussing how to craft effective research proposals, stressing societal relevance, clear goals, and strong academic credentials. He covered major funding agencies and research expenditure. In the afternoon, Dr. Butkar focused on enhancing digital presence, highlighting the benefits of platforms like Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and LinkedIn, and suggested using YouTube for outreach and financial gain. At 3:30 PM, the valedictory function took place, graced by the presence of our Director, Dr. Vinita Gaikwad. During the event, certificates were awarded to all participants.

ISTE Approved STTP – 2023 on “Information Technology – Women Empowerment

The theme of this year's STTP was Information Technology – Women Empowerment. The STTP started with our Director, Dr. Vinita Gaikwad address, wherein she welcomed all delegates and participants.

“Health is the greatest wealth.” believing this STTP started with Diet Session on 29 th May 2023. It was taken by Ms. Anupama Singh Padhi, Founder CEO at Dhaani Foods & Dhaanikala. She discussed, what is health in terms of physical, Social and Mental health. She provided 7 habits to healthy lifestyle. She also mentioned the Diet that specifies what to eat and what not to eat. Various sources of vitamins, calcium and proteins were discussed by her. Millet is one of the important food sources with high nutrition, high fiber and low Glycemic index. She introduced Indian Village Man, Dr Khadar Vali who relentlessly work in reviving “Siridhanya” means positive millets also explained importance of switching to millets. She also shared various millet recipes which made easy to have millets.

On May 29,2023, all faculty members took the online course of MATLAB Fundamentals. The course explored the topics of data analysis, visualization, modeling and programming. On May 30,2023, Session on CO-PO mapping was conducted by Dr Kamal Shah madam who is VP at TCET. She talked about PO attainment, to find and bridge the gap. CO should be mapped to revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. Using current semester subject data, she explained to calculate CO-PO mapping values. She discussed about attainment tools, also mentioned direct tools and indirect tools used for CO-PO mapping. 

On May 31,2023 session was taken by Dr Rajesh Bansode Sir who is professor in IT department in TCET. Session was on Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR). He talked about how AQAR is filled? He said Academic Calendar and Institute Calendar should be in line. Provide reason if documented dates and actual dates are deviating. He also discussed composition of IQAC, AQAR must include Action plan, action taken and Action for next academic Year.  Significance of Performance Indicator while drafting Question Paper was underlined. He explained about what points to be considered in each Criteria of IQAC while creating AQAR. Respective Criteria Head faculty, noted down the Criteria wise important points.

On June 1, 2023, session on MATLAB for Data Processing and Visualization was conducted by Mr. Ankit Kumar, Application engineer, from Design Tech Systems Private Limited. He explained about Analysis and Visualization with Vectors, Analysis and Visualization with Matrices, Tables of Data, Conditional Data Selection, Organizing Data, increasing Automation with Functions. All the techniques were completed by faculty members with hands on activity. Faculty members successfully scored the certificate in MATLAB Fundamental course.

On June 2,2023, Dr Mukesh Gupta, Founder director LeNest, Chairperson Media Communication cell, Past President AMC, spoke on Strategy Management. He started with life cycle of any business. He stated, steps in Strategic management defined by Michael Eugene Porter, are Create unique and valuable position, making trade off “What not to do” and creating right fit by aligning. Also explained that define core competency and work towards it. Continuous Benchmarking is needed. Porter's Five Forces model can help teachers to analyze the attractiveness of a teaching learning process, evaluate teaching pattern, and assess the competitive environment in education field. Second session was taken by Mrs. Bhagyashree Chemburkar on Kitchen Waste Management. She explained every house should take the responsibility of their garbage. For achieving it one should segregate dry waste and wet waste. Wet waste can be utilized in making compost. She shared details of 5 hourly Recycle Cycle Foundation who collects dry waste. Say “No to plastic” to manage dry waste.

June 3, 2023, was the visit to INSEED NGO, along with Dr Sangeeta Shirname, Founder of INSEED. Entire teaching and non-teaching staff of TIMSCDR, visited Adiwasi village in Janu Pada in Thakur Village, Kandivali East. Everyone climbed up to small school of underprivileged children, understood their problems. Dr Sangeeta explained their survival struggle, lack of facilities and opportunities even though it is situated near to the city. She also mentioned how funds and necessary things are collected to satisfy their basic needs.

June 3, 2023, second session attended by faculty member was on AI tools organized by Be10X. It was given by Mr. Aditya K. He talked about various tools to create effective presentation, to clear junk mails, tools to read research papers, to summarize the article, to practice communication skills, to perform formulae-based activity in excel etc. Faculty received participation certificate from Be10X.

On June 4-5, 2023, 2 days session was conducted by Mr. Sunil Parekh, International success coach, mind trainer & NLP practitioner, founder of Rise development academy. Subject was “How can a teacher be trained to get best out of students”. He talked about taking charge of your life. He gave equation Event + Response = Outcome. Event is not in our hand but if we respond positively outcomes will be positive. He discussed Law of attraction, Law of Resonance. He gave the working of conscious and sub conscious mind. Amazing, seven steps to success formula was laid down.

A session on “Yoga" was arranged on 7th June, recognizing, the importance of physical health, by Ms. Madhu, a yoga trainer. In the session, she explained the need of adapting regular exercise for strengthening of vertebral column. She demonstrated various stretching exercises and Asanas. Special arrangement for promotion for domestic tagline “Har Ghar Aangan” Yoga and international tag line as “One Yoga for One World”.

On June 7, 2023, Brahma Kumari’s Session was held by Ms. Sandhya Sister on the subject Purpose of Life and another one by Ms. Kavita sister on Mindset for changing Times.

Ms. Sandhya Sister mentioned that to achieve purpose of our life, we should keep in mind that Gratitude is the highest wealth of life. One should always accept the person as is, do not try to change one then life will be beautiful. Kavita Sister said let Humility be your defense. Understand that the Nature is constantly giving, and we are part of nature so imbibe the same quality within us.

On June 8,2023, Dr Shilpi Shah MSNIM, talked about, “How to write effective Research Paper. Her discussion topics were Bibliometric Analysis, Prisma Analysis etc. She also demonstrated to search similar subject paper of various author and year on IEEE using SCOPUS website. She explained how to apply filter to access articles of similar interest based on subject, country, publication, and citation. VOSVIEWER software to identify Research area, to know about references, author, co-author, books. This VOSVIEWER software tool is for constructing and visualizing, bibliometric networks. She mentioned formatting of research paper using settings of developer section in word.

The Valedictory function was held on 8th June, which was honored with the presence of our own Director, Dr Vinita Gaikwad and certificates were distributed to all the participants.

On June 9,2023, all faculty members and staffs enjoyed a field trip to Monteria Village at Kalote Khalapur, dist Raigad. Everyone relished experiencing various activities like Giant Swing, Puppet Show, Pottery, Khat Weaving, boating, swimming, rain dance at Monteria Village. A farm tour on the farm land, visit to biogas plant, vermin compost plant was very informative. Everybody bid the goodbye to Monteria Village by taking sweet memories. 

ISTE Approved STTP – 2022 on “Information Technology for Sustainability – Carbon Neutrality"

TIMSCDR conducted a 2 week ISTE approved STTP in association with CSI, Mumbai Chapter from 6 – 17 June 2022. The theme of this year's STTP was Information Technology for Sustainability- Carbon Neutrality.  The STTP started with our Director, Dr. Vinita Gaikwad address, wherein she welcomed all delegates and participants. She conducted session on “Towards Carbon neutrality”. She discussed global warming, net zero carbon emission, action needed by 2030 and sustainable developments goals. She also discussed several methods of carbon capturing, utilization and storage.

Next sessions on 6-7 June were a work shop on AWS Cloud Computing conducted by Mr. Shridhar Galande. He discussed about AWS service provided by the Amazon and it uses in distributed IT infrastructure in different IT resources available on demand. Also he discussed various services such as infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and packaged software as a service (SaaS), AWS EC2 – Elastic Compute Cloud, AWS S3 – Simple Storage Service and also hands-on exercises based on IAM roles to grant access to AWS accounts by relying on short-term credentials, a security best practice

On 8 June,the first session was on “Sustainability and Carbon Neutrality" by Ms. Priti Bhandari, Founder Alchemei-Environment Initiatives, and she explained from scratch  from where carbon generates in our daily  uses and she focused on how to control carbon emission by reusing the old gadgets, at individual level and how segregating the e-waste helps. She was able to draw attention of the participants by giving her real life examples. Session 2 was conducted by Mr. Aniket Pate from Kwality Infosolution on Innovative teaching method from 1:00 pm. He explained how the Smart board can be used for teaching innovatively. The next session was on Energy Literacy Training where faculties went through online materials from Energy Swaraj Foundation with practical explanation on the alternative sources of energy and making efficient home and office appliances using substitutes to reduce energy consumption .

On 9 June during the very interesting session on “Art of living” by Prerna Khandelwal, Consultant, Live Skills Trainer & Life coach incorporated exercises and shared her experiences about what stress is and what the 7 layers of existence Body, Breath, Mind, Intellectual, Memory, ego, and self are. Yoga Asana was conducted by Ms. Anjali where exercises on eyes, mind and neck stretching to relax the body were practiced. The next session was conducted by Dr. Mohan B.Rao, Professor & Associate Dean, IES Management College & Research Centre on Universal Human Values and Carbon Neutrality. He discussed the role of humans and the responsibilities towards carbon neutrality by sharing the experiences of Korea and Bhutan, how Bhutan follows a holistic approach to handle carbon emission by applying holistic views.

On 10 June, all faculty members and staffs enjoyed a field trip to Saguna Baug at Neral where Mr. Shekhar Bhatsawale conducted an interactive session on carbon sequestration and gave in-depth knowledge on climate change and the role of human activities in climate change. Further he talked on Saguna Rice Techniques (SRT), how it can be used to cultivate rice without plowing, pudding and transplanting rice on permanent raised beds .

On 13 June all staff members participated in Yoga session conducted by Mr. Gopal Krishna Jha. A full body workout was practised by all under the guidance of the yoga instructor. Next session was conducted by Ms. Sonu Gupta , Assistant Professor , TIMSCDR on Course Outcomes. She explained about the institute's vision and mission and how to deal with syllabus, co-curricular activities and extra-curricular activities to achieve PEO, PO and CO Mapping.

On 14 June ,during the workshop on carbon neutrality taken by Ms. Vedangi Sohni, she talked about how carbon offsets allow us to balance out our emission and she also explained direct, indirect ways of consumption of energy.She also highlighted on how digital transformation has brought many benefits that also have a positive impact on the fight against climate change and reduce CO2 emissions.

On 15 June, the session was conducted by Yogendra Shastri, Dept. of Chemical engineering, IIT Bombay on “Sustainability and Global Warming”. He highlighted topics on Energy consumption, how it has played a crucial role in climate change and how the Energy plays an important role in the development of the society. He spoke on Sustainable development goals and its challenges in Sustainable engineering by giving some example on UN Sustainable growth. A holistic approach is essential in impact assessment and 12 principles of them. The next session was conducted by Dr. Umesh Mundlye, Director at OIKOS Water Management Pvt Ltd.  on “Conservation of  natural resources- A solution for sustainable Carbon neutrality”. He elucidated about  carbon neutrality and  Carbon sequestration.

On 16 June, the session was conducted by Mr. Ravin Kumar, Product Leader TCS Digital Farming Initiative, TCS  , on Carbon Farming and Potential Opportunities for Farmers and Agri value chain players. He spoke on carbon farming and why carbon farming is needed, challenges in carbon farming, and the need for sustainability in food production. He talked on the areas to achieve sustainability holistically and about the positive and negative contributions of each sector.

The Valedictory function was held on 17th June, which was graced with the presence of  Dr. Abdul Moid, Director ERTL(W) Mumbai, STQC DTE,Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Govt. of India. and in his short speech he briefed about how technology contributes in real life in the current pandemic situation.

As an outcome of the  STTP 2022 participants got an appropriate learning platform to enhance the knowledge and skills about the latest technologies like cloud computing and also got a exposure to few very relevant topic of the modern world like carbon neutrality and alternative solar energy.

ISTE approved Online STTP 2021 themed on “Information Technology for Sustainability : Blockchain Technology and Data Science"

TIMSCDR conducted a 2 week ISTE approved STTP in association with CSI, Mumbai Chapter and Spoken tutorial, IIT from 17 – 29 June 2021. The theme of this year's STTP was Information Technology for Sustainability: Blockchain Technology and Data Science. The STTP started with a speech by our Director, Dr. Vinita Gaikwad wherein she welcomed all delegates and participants and discussed the entire schedule of STTP and what the participants can expect to learn from it. STTP was inaugurated by Dr. Suresh Shan, Head – Innovation & Future Technologies BITS, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Limited. He applauded the efforts taken by the Institute to train the staff and students on latest technology and emphasized about the need to focus on sustainability in the current times.

The first speaker session was conducted by Dr. Narendra Vaidya, an Hon. President of Aastha Foundation, Aurangabad,who briefed everybody about Geriatric Care and talked about its significance as the share of Indian population over the age of 60 is projected to increase from 8 per cent to nearly 20 per cent in 2050. He talked about various challenges while caring for old age patients and various diseases associated with age such as Dementia, Alzeimer's.

The next session was by Mr. Deepak Pareek, Author, Expert Digital Transformation,Entrepreneur, Technology Pioneer – World Economic Forum. He spoke about unevenly distributed food pyramid, micronutrient deficiency in coming decades, threats due to climate change, disturbances in environment, challenges in pandemic situation and current challenges of food chain. The food system needs fundamental transformation which has to be Data driven, insightful, scalable, holistic, distributed, self-learning, transparent, real-time, collaborated and profitable.

In another wonderful session by Mr Dinesh Kumar Singh,Group Leader, Digital Farming Initiative(Fisheries and Livestock) at TCS talked from the starting of Digital era and its impact in todays world. He discussed about research in digital age and problems & opportunities associated with it. He talked about 5 main digital forces – mobility, big data, social media, cloud, AI & robotics and scope of research in all these areas.

On 21st June all the TIMSCDR staffs and students celebrated International Yoga Day by participating in Yoga in a session conducted by Mr. Chandan Mishra, a Yoga Instructor associated with Ground 'N' Pound MMA & Let's Play Foundation. A full body workout along with Pranayam was practised by all under the guidance of the yoga instructor.

In the next session by Mr. Jeeven Saini ,Co-Founder & CEO at Sofocle Innovation Labs Pvt. Ltd.,he  discussed practical use and applicability of Blockchain in various domains such as banking, financial fintech, charity, credit history, cloud storage etc. He explained in detail how use of 256 bit hash functions and its distributed nature makes it tamper proof and immutable.

In another session by Mr. Abhishek Pandey,Cyber Security Engineer at Cyber SECURE explained about common hacking scenarios such as Mobikwik system and types of crackers like black hat hacker, gray hat hackers, script kiddies, state/nation sponsored hackers. He concluded his session by making everyone aware about government cyber laws and how an individual can fight against cyber attacks and shared resources such as reportphising.in and cybercrime.gov.in etc.

In the next session by Mr Devesh Rajadhyax,Founder & CEO,Cere labs Pvt. Ltd started the session with introduction to Deep Learning and its applications of object detection, anomaly detection, face recognition, sentiment analysis, virtual assistant etc. He took a case study of a monochrome image detection and text and demonstrated how they are processed to converted into a vector and then fed into a deep learning neural network.

In another nice session by Mr. Jacky Patel, Director Analytics Solutions and Mr. Satyajit Garewal,Team Lead,Analylics Solution at Veracitiz Solutions together took a session on Data Science in FMCG. Mr. Satyajit started the session with how business dynamics have changed in real life scenarios regarding goverment norms, workforce well- being, decision intellignce, digital global leadership, value chain system etc. Taking example of a use case of FMCG he demonstrated how data analytics is used in predictive and prescriptive analysis to forecast sales of a product in future.

In the next session by Dr. Seema Purohit, Principal, Deccan Education Society’s Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce started her session with how life around the globe has changed during the COVID pandemic and how it has also impacted the IT sector. She also showed report on 'Emerging trends from and after 2020' published by AIM and Analytixlabs in December 2020 and discussed how data science with other technologies such as AI will be the most dominant technology in coming times.

In the next session by Mr. Awab Habib Fakih, Entrepreneur and Educator started session with fundamentals of machine learning and future of machine learning. He elaborated upon concepts of what are the types of machine learning, segments of machine learning, methods of evluating machine learning and benefits of machine learning. he also explained Google Ads on the basis of classification, suggesstions, browsing history of customer to increase the revenue of business.

The last session was conducted by Dr. Deven Shah,Vice-Principal,TCET.He started the session with lockchain technology basics. Ms. Neeraj Khairwal , PhD associate  of Dr Deven Shah explained bitcoin installation and transactions using commands.Later Mr. Sandip Bankar,, another PhD associate gave a brief introduction of bitcoin and metamask(A crypto wallet & gateway to blockchain apps).

In between the multiple sessions by the erudite personalities who shared their insights on sustainability there was a workshop on the chosen subjects by the faculty members like R,Python,PHP etc. in association with Spoken tutorial, IIT-Bombay between 17 -25 June at various time slots. The knowledge enhancing videos developed by Spoken Tutorials were uploaded in the TIMSCDR YouTube channel and based on that daily assignments were given.

The online Valedictory function was held on 29th  June, which was graced with the presence of  Mr. Ravikiran Mankikar, Chairman, CSI Mumbai Chapter and in his short speech he briefed about how technology contributes in real life in the current pandemic situation.

As an outcome of the online STTP 2021 participants got an appropriate online Learning platform to enhance the knowledge and skills during the pandemic of COVID-19.

ISTE approved Online STTP 2020 themed on “Information Technology for Sustainability"

TIMSCDR organized for first  time its STTP  online between 15-26 June, 2020  themed on “Information Technology for Sustainability", approved by ISTE, New Delhi and Spoken Tutorial, IIT-Bombay, in association with CSI, Mumbai. The programme was enriched with talks from eminent personalities in various domains.

The two weeks STTP was inaugurated by Dr. Suresh Chandra Gupta, Honorary Head, CSI – Mumbai Chapter. He explained the various collaborative online programs which are conducted by CSI Mumbai chapter. He also discuused how CSI helps students to enhance their skills in technology in the current  pandemic situation.

The first speaker session was conducted on “Mindfulness in the COVID-19 Scenario” by Ms. Rhea Pai, COO, Thakur Education Group. She explained in the most interesting way with simple examples how mindfulness can be used to focus attention on the present moment and knowing  your inner self.  She emphasized upon the importance of self management to nurture ‘Mindful Leaders’ who would be needed to handle complex problems with a calm mind in their future careers and personal front.

The next session was on Systematic Data Organization & Presentation by Dr. Sangeeta Joshi, Professor & Technical Advisor, Director, IQAC & NAAC Convener, VIT. She explained the NAAC accreditation process in detail and how NAAC is related to quality improvement and the importance of accreditation. She elaborated upon Data Verification and Validation process with examples and the difference between qualitative and quantitative analysisIn another session on the Inculcating mindset for developing Processes and Systems for NAAC, Dr. Sangeeta Joshi explained in detail about IQAC and what process Institutes have to follow to achieve excellence in IQAC.

Next session was by Mr. Awab Habib Fakih, Educator, Edupreneur, Startup mentor elucidated on design thinking the way we approach the problem and how to deal with that problem in adverse situations. He discussed about  Blue Ocean and Red Ocean Methods, Lotus Blossom Techniques and Prototyping methods in the context of design thinking. He explained in a simple manner about design thinking and the combination of analytical and intuitive thinking.

A session on Telemedicine & TeleHealth was conducted by Dr. K. Ganapathy – Professor of Neurosurgery, Director, Apollo Tele Health Services, Chennai.He explained the process of telemedicine as delivery of healthcare service involving patients and doctors where distance is critical and how technology can help in the digital healthcare ecosystem.

In another session on “Telemedicine – A Road Less Travelled by a Doctor” by Dr. Milind Antani – Lead, Pharma, Lifescience & Healthcare Practice along with his associates Mr. Darren Punnen and Ms. Shreya Shenolikar, they explained about “The New Beginning in Medicine” in the current situation of Pandemic, ie Telemedicine. They also explained about Digital Health, the process of telemedicine, telemedicine models and various scenarios of telemedicine application.

On 22 June  there was a training programme on Art of Living by Ms Neeta Sharda, Faculty of Art of Living. She talked about importance of proper breathing in our daily routine. She explained the benefits of “Sudarshan Kriya '' and how lifestyle diseases can be cured with daily practice of it. An online hands on session on breathing exercise and meditation was also taken.

There was a session on IoT – Introduction and Applications by Mr Jasveer Singh, Founder & CEO, Sense IT Out Intelligent Pvt. Ltd. He pointed out that application of IoT in agriculture could be a life changer for humanity by focusing  on smart agriculture using  Sensor-based systems for monitoring crops, growth stage of crop, soil quality, fields, storage facilities that influences the production.

Recognizing importance of physical health  a session on “Yoga and Physiotherapy" by Dr. Sharon Wu, Physiotherapist was arranged. In the session, she explained the need of  adapting correct postures and regular exercise in the home confinement during lock down period. She demonstrated various stretching exercises and postures.

In another knowledge enriching session on modern technology Dr. Deven Shah, Vice Principal, TCET  discussed about Blockchain Technology. He explained about bitcoins and the ideas of bitcoin centralization and legends. He  demonstrated about the open source platform Ethereum and its drawbacks and interoperability of block chain. He also covered AWS blockchain services and various applications of blockchain.

Next in a session  by Mr A.P. Gaurvadkar, TPO, RIT participants were introduced to  online open source tools available in  2020  to Connect  with students  in  the online  platforms during this pandemic situation to  make them  “Super Human Educators”. Use of many tools such as OBS, poll everywhere was demonstrated.

In another session on Team Building by Ms. Suman Pai, Communication expert and RBNQA-senior examiner,  she explained with nice examples  the role of organization for preparing the team members in  the current reality of  pandemic situation and the issues all are facing while considering teamwork in the work culture of work   from home.

A session on “Agriculture amidst COVID-19” by Mr. Ramaswamy Seshan, Co-Founder, Nine D Agrotech he explained the impact of pandemic on the eating habits and briefed about Covid 19 impact and revival of Indian agriculture and organic farming. He elucidated about the role of IT in agriculture. He explained the future of farming by using the ideas of  hydroponics, aquaponics and aeroponics.

In between the multiple sessions by the erudite personalities who shared their insights on sustainability there was a workshop on Python 3.4.3 in association with Spoken tutorial, IIT-Bombay between 15 -25 June at various time slots. The knowledge enhancing videos developed by Spoken Tutorials were uploaded in the TIMSCDR YouTube channel and based on that daily assignments were given.

The online Valedictory function was held on 26 June, which was graced with the presence of  Mr. Ravikiran Mankikar, Chairman, CSI Mumbai Chapter and in his short speech he briefed about how technology contributes in real life in the current pandemic situation.

As an outcome of the online STTP 2020 where about 157 participants from all over India were finally certified after strict checking of daily submission of feedback and assignments.  Participants got an appropriate Online Learning platform to enhance the knowledge and skills  during the pandemic of COVID-19,  a platform for industry – academia interaction and for exchange of ideas, knowledge, experiences and wisdom, an opportunity for studying the Role of IT for the sustainability and an  overall development  through yoga and art of living.

ISTE Approved STTP-2019 on “Information Technology for Sustainability”

The two week ISTE approved STTP “Information Technology for Sustainability" 17-28 June 2019 was inaugurated by Dr. Rajiv Desai, Hon. Treasurer, Computer Society of India, Mumbai Chapter. He discussed how information technology can play an important role in managing operations that support all three dimensions of sustainable growth – economic, environmental and social. He congratulated the entire TIMSCDR team for choosing such a relevant topic.

The speaker sessions started with session of Dr. Yogendra Shastri, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Bombay. He talked about sustainability, challenges in sustainable engineering, methods for quantification & assessment of sustainability. He discussed about footprint analysis of carbon, water and nitrogen, life cycle assessment framework, principles of green engineering and biomimicry.

This was followed by a 5 day workshop on Data Science conducted by Mr. Parag Kulkarni, Dr. Prachi Joshi and Mr. Vinayak Jagtap. Mr. Parag Kulkarni is Founder, Chief Scientist and CEO, iknowlation. The workshop covered basics of data science and machine learning, different types of learning – supervised, unsupervised, semi-supervised and reinforcement learning. It also included hands-on workshop on Python and R. Various classification and clustering algorithms were executed in Python which were then incorporated in projects implemented by faculty. Data visualization was implemented in R.

Entire staff of TIMSCDR went to Sahayadri Farms and Sula Wines at Nashik for field visit on 21 June 2019. Sahayadri Farms is a 'Farmer-Producer-Company' that has 8000+ farmers associated with them. Our staff saw live functioning of their processing and packaging of their various products- aseptic pulps/purees & concentrates, individual quick frozen (iqf) fruits and vegetables and frozen fruit pulps/purees. At Sula Wines the staff learnt how different varieties of wine is prepared from different varieties of grapes and stored.

A workshop on solar energy was conducted by Mr. Lakshey Sehgal, Founder and CEO, Spektron Solar. The session covered introduction to solar technology, selection of system components for establishing rooftop solar EPC, selection of suitable system type as per demographics and requirement, system sizing and installation and operation and maintenance of solar systems. Hands-on exercises for appropriate selection of site to install a rooftop solar PV system and shading analysis were conducted.

On 26 June we had a yoga session conducted by Ms. Archana, Ms. Alka and Ms. Harsha in the morning. The staff was trained in various 'asanas', yoga pose instruction, yoga sequences for beginners to specific exercises for various ailments and guided meditation. This was followed by a session 'CRAFT training on sustainable farming techniques' by Mr. Vijay Yelmalle, proprietor, CRAFT. He talked about how sustainable agriculture can be done using Aquaponics and Hydroponics. He discussed how Aquaponics combines conventional aquaculture (raising aquatic animals such as snails, fish, crayfish or prawns in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. Dr. Lavesh Jadhav, Project Head, Growdiesel Ventures took a session on ‘Sustainability: Health sector, DNA tests – Advanced Modern Medical Base’ and discussed about human genetics.

27 June started with a training session on ‘Sustainability and IT’ by Prof. Vishal Sardeshpande, Founder – Sarvaay, Adjunct Professor, CTARA, IIT Bombay. He discussed about how sustainability can be achieved by mindful consumption in our daily lives. He also talked about creating resource efficient appropriate technologies that are primarily in the domain of food and agro processing to empower people in rural and semi-urban areas for local wealth and employment creation. Dr. Alka Mitra, AVP Reliance Industried Ltd took a session ‘Awareness on Sustainability’. She discussed about significance of sustainable development, trends in India and globally and undertook case studies of practices adopted by corporate and institutions to promote sustainability.

Dr. Madhuri Mavinkurve took a one day workshop on Bloom’s Taxonomy where exercises to understand Outcome Based Education, framing Learning Objectives and Course Outcomes using Blooms Taxonomy, designing question paper as per Course Outcomes was done.

A session on ‘Voice Modulation’ by Ms. Niti Mathur, CEO – Niti Creations & Executive Producer, Food-Food Channel and a renowned dubbing artist was conducted. She discussed how voice can be used as an effective teaching tool. She discussed various nuances of voice modulation – pitch, expression, volume, inflection, tone, tempo and how to use them effectually.

The STTP concluded with a session on ‘Excellence for Sustainability’ by Ms. Suman Pai, Trainer and Examiner, IMC RBNQ Award Trust. She discussed the principles of excellence and the core values which any organization should follow to excel in their domain. She discussed in specific about innovations that can be incorporated in teaching learning methodology for more engaged learning.

Two week STTP came to an end with the valedictory function on 28 June 2019 where certificates were distributed by Dr. Vinita Gaikwad and feedback about all sessions put forth by faculty.

ISTE Approved STTP-2018 on “Advance Computing Techniques”

Two week ISTE approved STTP on “Advanced Computing Techniques”, 5 – 17 May 2018, was organized by Thakur Institute of Management Studies Career Development and Research (TIMSCDR) under the guidance of our Director, Dr. Vinita Gaikwad. The STTP mainly focused upon Digital Marketing and use of Information Technology in Agro – Healthcare Waste Management.

The STTP was inaugurated with a visit to Saguna Baug, Neral. It is an eco-friendly agricultural farm located at the foothills of Matheran. There the participants were instructed about innovative farming methods, traditional and non-traditional agriculture, agro forestry, dairy farming, aqua culture, horticulture etc. Mr. Shekhar Bhatsawale, a progressive farmer and owner Saguna Baug discussed about ways to manage agriculture waste in a productive manner and how it helps in carbon sequestration.

On 7 May, a yoga session was conducted in morning by Mr. Ulhas Ramdhs Hegde, Yoga Instructor, Premanand Yoga Institute. Many exercises and yogaasans were taught which aimed at stretching full body. Yogaasans that help cure certain diseases were also demonstrated. It was followed by a session on ‘Investor Awareness Program’ by Mr. Manoj Sathe, Vice President, NSDL and an interactive session on “7 Sheaths of Holistic Development” by Mr. Rajesh Kadam, HoD Spiritual Care, Bhagtivedanta Hospital, Mira Road. The day was concluded with a session on “Kitchen Waste Management and Urban Farming” by Ms. Aprajita Singh, HoD – Academics and Ms. Mira Gohil, Assistant Professor, TIMSCDR.

Six days hands-on training on “Digital Marketing” was conducted from 8 – 15 May. The hands-on training program included Google Adwords, PPC Marketing, Email marketing, On-page and Off-page SEO techniques, Social Media Marketing and Google Analytics. On 15 May, after conclusion of training all participants successfully cleared “Google AdWords Fundamentals” and “Google AdWords Search” certification examinations.

On 16 May, Mr. Akshat Kadam from Sony Corporation Japan R & D in the vision technology department for emerging technologies in virtual reality conducted a lecture on “Intuiting Artificial Intelligence”. He discussed about hierarchy of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning applications. This was followed by a session by Dr. R. K. Kamat, Professor and Head of Department of Electronics of Shivaji University, Kolhapur on “Quality Improvement”. He discussed about quality integrated framework and the importance of NAAC accreditation for institutes. He also discussed about Quality Indicator Framework which includes various criteria of NAAC.

On 17 May, Mr. Vidhadhur Walawalkar, General Secretary and Senior Lecturer at VPM’s Polytechnic College, Thane conducted a lecture on “Biomedical Waste Management – Methods and Technologies Available to Mitigate Waste Disposal Problem and Entrepreneurship opportunities”. He shared his experience of handling biomedical wastes under different projects that is collected from over 300+ doctors. A session on “Waste Treatment: Biogas” was conducted by Mr. Miling Chaudhari, Agriculture Officer, Block Development Officer, Raigad. He explained how waste can be used to generate biogas. Lastly Dr. Vaibhav Thakkar, Sr. Lecturer, MGM Dental College, conducted a lecture on “Statistical Analysis in Research”. He explained about principles of statistics and types of variants that should be used in quality research work. He also explained how test data can be used for testing the hypothesis.

Two week STTP came to an end with the valedictory function on 17 May where certificates were distributed to all participants by Mr. V. N. Datta, Advisor, TEG along with words of motivation to put into implementation the knowledge gained from the STTP.

ISTE Approved STTP-2017 on “Advance Computing Techniques”

Two week ISTE approved STTP on “Advanced Computing Techniques” was organized by the Institute from 29 April – 12 May 2017. The STTP mainly focused upon DCS Switching Certification in Networking and use of Information Technology in Agriculture.

The STTP was inaugurated by Dr. Dhananjay Kalbande, Chairman, BOS – MCA, University of Mumbai. He motivated the faculty to use the DCS certification obtained during STTP and discussed various ways of using networking paradigms in providing sustainable solutions in the field of agriculture. He further congratulated Dr. Vinita Gaikwad, Director – TIMSCDR, under whose guidance the STTP was arranged for the novel initiative.

Inauguration was followed by a rejuvenating and inspiring session on ‘Creative Self at Work’ by Ms. Rhea Pai, COO, Thakur Education Group. She talked about how anyone can be creative by exercising the mind. She also explained about VUCA (Volatile Uncertain Complex and Ambiguous) world and how creativity is essential to adapt in this VUCA world.

Ms. Yukti K. Mehandiratta, Performance Coach, Former Gladrags Mrs. India conducted a session on “Mantras to Manage the Millennial Generation”. She discussed about power dressing, email etiquette and how to adapt our teaching style to engage millennial generation.

Six days hands on training on DCS Switching Certification was conducted from 2 – 8 May 2017. The hands on training program included network essentials, switch operation, VLAN, spanning tree protocol, switch stacking, routing and switching features.

On 9 – 12 May 2017 session on yoga was taken in the morning by Ms. Kajal Pillai. Many exercises and yogaasans which aim at stretching full body were taught. Specific yogaasans which help cure certain diseases were also demonstrated. A full body workout that can be done while sitting in office chair was also taught.

On 9 May 2017, Dr. J. Adinarayana, Professor, IIT Mumbai conducted a lecture on “Role of ICTDTs in Agriculture”. He shared his research experiences in the field of agriculture. He also discussed about SMART farming technologies and discussed various ideas like drip irrigation with the faculty where IT could be used in agriculture.

On 11 May 2017 our faculty went for a visit to Save Farms, Dhanau where the faculty was educated about sustainable organic agricultural practices like rain water harvesting. They were demonstrated how infertile and eroded land was converted in to a lush green productive farm with consistent scientific efforts and innovative implementation of latest technology. The faculty also enjoyed adventure activities like zip-line and rope course.

Two week STTP came to an end with the valedictory function on 12 May 2017 where certificates were distributed by Dr. Vinita Gaikwad along with words of motivation to put into implementation the knowledge gained from the STTP.

ISTE Approved STTP-2016 on “Conduct of Research and Use of Information Technology”

TIMSCDR’s focus on research activities and providing best education to our students has always motivated us to continuously upgrade ourselves. For this, we have been organizing Short Term Training Programmes and Faculty Development Programmes. This year we had organized two week ISTE approved STTP on ‘Conduct of Research and Use of Information Technology “ from 18th May 2016- 31st May 2016. We planned for Two day hands on advanced training on “Internet of Things” and sessions on mind management, stress management and Yoga.

The STTP was inaugurated by Dr. G. S. Singh (Chief Advisor, EduMint).

IDr. Vinita Gaikwad , I/c Director TIMSCDR delivered the welcome speech. In her welcome speech she stressed upon the importance and necessity of research. She emphasized upon the need to innovate continuously.

Dr. G. S. Singh, Chief Advisor, EduMint discussed various avenues for application of IT. He motivated the faculty to involve students in the process of research by going beyond course curriculum and making learning objectives of every course very clear to the students.

Throughout the STTP we were fortunate to have with us following dignitaries from various disciplines to share their knowledge and experience.

Dr. Rushikesh Joshi, Department of Computer Science, IIT Mumbai, conducted a session on ‘Research’.

Dr. Arun Pande, Head TCS Innovation Labs, Mumbai, conducted a session on “Research and Research Translation using Information Technology”.

Dr.Vinit Dongre, HOD and Associate Professor, EXTC, TCET, Mumbai, took a very informative session on ‘Formulating Effective Research and Opportunities for IP ‘ . He also talked about the significance of filing a patent and explained the entire process of filing any patent with Indian Patent Office.

Mr. Sachin Sadari, Business Development Manager, L&T InfoTech,Mumbai, talked about ‘Role of Digital Technologies in IT Research’. He discussed how using Internet of Things (IoT) a network of physical objects—devices, vehicles, buildings etc, can be used to collect and exchange data without any human intervention.

Ms. Usha Sahoo and Mr. Indranil Bhole,Yeh Chaina,Mumbai, took a session on modern spoken and written Mandarin (Chinese.)

Mr. Sanjay Kimbahune , Senior Consultant and Senior Scientist , TCS Innovation Labs, Mumbai, conducted a lecture on “How to do good Research ”

Dr. Ashok Pathre , founder of NIMBUS ,gave talk about “ Research: A Long Lasting and an Unending Academic Activity . The session was deeply motivating and enlightened the participant on various aspects of research.

Mr. Anand Khandare Assistant professor , TCET, discussed in detail different aspect of “R Programming language and Software Environment for Statistical Analysis for Research Work”.

Dr. Deven Shah, Professor TCET , discussed in detail about “Software Define Networks(SDN)”.

Dr. Urjaswala Vora , Principal Technical Officier ,CDAC, Mumbai,had talk about Research Methodology.

Dr. Uday Khedkar ,Head,Department of Computer Science, IIT Mumbai conducted a session on “What is Research”.

Two day hands on advanced training on “Internet of Things” was conducted on 25th May 2016 and 27th May 2016 by Mr. Deepak Gupta (Fresher’s Foundry).The hands on training program included building a smart phone Application to controll home automation system using sensors, Raspberry Pi and relays.

In addition to this, there was a six hours training session on Yoga conducted by Mrs. Kajol, three hours training session on Stress management conducted by Ms Sandhya and three hours training session on Mind Management conducted by Mr. Hitesh

The Valedictory function was honored by Prof . Sureshchandra Gupta, (Hon.Vice Chairman , CSI Mumbai chapter).He motivated participant for doing research.

ISTE Approved STTP-2015 on “Advance Computing Techniques”

Two week ISTE approved STTP on Advance Computing Technique (5 May 2015 – 16 May 2015) was organized by Thakur Institute of Management Studies Career Development and Research (TIMSCDR).

The STTP was inaugurated by Mr. Henry R.P. (IT Consultant and Corporate Trainer). Dr. Vinita Gaikwad, I/c Director TIMSCDR stressed upon the importance of organizing such training programmes to keep the faculty abreast of latest technologies and integrate quality in teaching learning process. Mr. Henry R.P. elaborated upon concepts of Big Data like Hadoop, Map Reduce, Pig, Hive etc. in very simple terms and also covered many related case studies. He emphasized upon application of these concepts rather than only learning them.

Hands on training on Big Data were conducted by Mr. Vikrant Deshmukh and Ms. Tabassum Khan (Aptech Computer Education) from 5th May – 13th May 2015. They trained the faculty in architecture and installation of Hadoop, Map Reduce. Practical sessions were conducted to create HDFS (Hadoop File System) and make programs in Map Reduce. The faculty also learned to write queries in Pig to analyze data. They had also helped the faculties to gain in depth knowledge in data analytics using various case studies.

On 14th May 2015, Mr. Deepak Choksi (Research Associate, Project Engineer, IIT Mumbai) has delivered lecture on the topic “Remote sensing in GIS”. He elaborated on various areas addressed by GIS. He explained the time mapping techniques used by Google Earth. He presented Raster Model, Vector Data Model for storage and retrieval of spatial data respectively. At last he gave a brief description about GRAM++ i.e. Geo-location Reference Areas Management Software for GIS.

On 14th May 2015, Ms. Rashmi Gupta (CEO, Sara Ecom Pvt. Ltd. Mumbai) has delivered lecture on Data Mining. She has designed ERP for SARA Infotech. She started her session by throwing light on basic concepts of data mining, OLTP, OLAP. She has explained various data mining techniques like classification, clustering, decision trees etc. She also demonstrated SQL server 2008, R2 management studio by means of a case study. She has introduced DMX i.e. Data Mining Extension language to apply various data mining techniques for a large data set.

On 14th May 2015, Dr. Siddharth Desai (B.D.S, Mahatma Gandhi Mission’s Dental College and Hospital, Navi Mumbai) conducted self-defense session. He demonstrated warm up exercises and various Karate hand moves. Participants also practiced basic Karate moves with the help of Dr. Siddharth Desai.

On 15th May 2015, Mr. Ravi Raman (Chief Solution Evangelist, Fintellix Software) shared his views and experiences about how Business Intelligence is utilized in Banking sector to improve customer satisfaction as well as banking business.

On 15th May 2015, three hours of session on self defense was conducted by Dr. Siddharth Desai and Shihan Sachin Chavan (KWFJKA All India Style Chief, Leader & Representative of KWF (HQ) for India). He taught us about how to defend ourselves in different situations.

On 16th May 2015, Mr. Salil Nair (Head, Technology Services, FIS Global) delivered a speech on Computer Networks and Security. He elaborated on latest trends such as Web Application Firewall, Anti-APT and MPLS.

Next session was conducted by Dr. Siby Abraham (Board of Studies in Computer Science, University of Mumbai, Professor, Khalasa College) who had helped the participants to gain in-depth knowledge of supervised learning using Decision Tree, Neural Network and K-mean clustering.

Mr. Vikrant Sankhe (IBMas Country Lead – Smarter Analytics) elaborated the concept of Demystifying Big Data and Role of Analytics. He discussed real time case studies where Big Data Analysis is actually implemented.

Our valedictory function was honored by the presence of Mr. Suresh Shan (Head – Business Information Technology Solutions (BITS) at Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd Mumbai) and Mr. Abdul Khalid (Dy. General Manager –EAATS-Enterprise Application Architecture Technology Solutions). They shared their experience in the field of Big Data implementation and enlighten the participants with few real time examples.
