CSI-TIMSCDR
CSI-TIMSCDR is the student branch of the Computer Society of India (CSI) at Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development and Research (TIMSCDR), Mumbai.
CSI offers a range of services and networking opportunities through workshops,seminars,conventions and courses participated by industry majors sharing best practices and digital opportunities for development, exchanging knowledge and ideas. Today, CSI has members from all over the nation including famous industry leaders, brilliant scientists, and dedicated academicians. The mission of CSI is to facilitate research, knowledge sharing, learning & career enhancement, while simultaneously inspiring and nurturing new talent and innovations.
CSI 2022-2023
Following event were organized in association with Computer Society of India-Mumbai Chapter
- TIMSCDR conducted a 2-week ISTE approved Short Term Training Program (STTP), in association with CSI, Mumbai Chapter from May 29, 2023 –June 9, 2023. The theme of this year’s STTP was Information Technology – Women Empowerment.
- TIMSCDR organized two days Faculty Development Program (FDP) on 25th and 26th May, 2023 on Robotic Process Automation (RPA) in association with FOSLIPY and CSI, Mumbai chapter. Mr. Durvesh Bendale, who is Advanced Certified RPA developer, delivered the session about how repetitive computer oriented human task, or complicated and end to end procedures can be automated using Robotic Process Automation.
- TIMSCDR organized ICAIM 2023, International Conference on Advances in Information Technology and Management on 11-12 February 2023. Theme of this year’s conference was “Leveraging Information Technology for Sustainability in Agriculture and Healthcare – Carbon Neutrality”. It was arranged in association with CSI, Mumbai chapter, AMC (Association of Medical Consultants), MACCIA (Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture) and Nordic Center for Sustainable Healthcare (NCSH). Eminent personalities from all three fields – IT, Agriculture and Medicine participated in ICAIM 2023.
- DLLE poster making – Offline poster making competition was held on 11 January 2023 on the theme “My Right of Voting in Election” and “Women Empowerment”.
- Student Induction Program(SIP)-Various technical and non-technical sessions were organized for First year students of our Institute.
- SYNAPSE- SYNAPSE-2022, the junction between two neurons – Technology and Innovations was themed ‘Turning Digital technology innovation into climate action – Carbon Neutrality (UN Goal 13 – Climate Action”, and the Final Presentation was on 11th October, 2022 where students presented their ideas online to a panel of judges from industry who evaluated the teams based on the criteria like Innovation, Creativity, Technical and Socio Economical Feasibility, Marketing Skills & Team Work. The Ninth volume of SYNAPSE – Innovation Magazine was released.at the hands of the event judges like Dr.Suresh A Shan, the President,CSI,Mumbai Chapter, Mr. Arvind Prabhu working as Director in the RaceNext Information Solution Private Limited along with many other eminent personalities from industry who also mentored the students during the project development. The innovative projects by students were also evaluated by them and the best projects were given cash prizes.
CSI 2021-2022
STTP
TIMSCDR conducted a 2 week ISTE approved STTP in association with CSI, Mumbai Chapter from 6 – 17 June 2022. The theme of this year’s STTP was Information Technology for Sustainability- Carbon Neutrality. Throughout this 10 day-period, different speakers from various fields of industry and academia conducted various sessions and workshops on futuristic technologies like Cloud Computing using Amazon Web Services, use of Information Technology for sustainability in Carbon Sequestration and Carbon Neutrality processes and also about other non-technical topics like Yoga for Holistic Development. Mindfulness and Art of living to cope up with the current turbulent time etc. For all the participants it was a great learning opportunity.
VISTA and E-Day
The annual Technical cum Cultural Festival “Vista 2022” was organized by the institute on 20th April 2022, on the theme “Invincible – Immortality of Technology”.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Suresh A. Shan, working with Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Limited as Head – Digital Innovation & Future Technology Business Information & Technology Solutions and Dr. Vinita Gaikwad, Director, TIMSCDR.
Annual E-Day-2022 was organized by E-Cell on 22 April 2022 to promote Entrepreneurship amongst the students. The Panel Discussion on “Entrepreneurship as Career Opportunity in Aatmnirbhar Bharat” includes panelist Mr. Arvind Prabhu, Founder, Racenext Technology Solutions.
SIP Guest Lecture
As a part of Student Induction program(SIP) ,Dr Suresh Shan,President,CSI-Mumbai Chapter,CTO,Mahindra Finance, conducted a session on CSI & new technology and skills demands from industry :post covid on 6th January,2022 at 10.30 am .He elaborated on new technologies, Vision Industry 4.0. E-Business in India etc. Further he talked on uses of innovations like 3D printers, Autonomous Vehicles, using AI, IOT for security, major platform for mobility, human behaviors in college and industry. The session was very interesting and both students and faculties learned a lot from it.
A guest lecture on “Graphology: The case Study on Handwriting”
A guest lecture was organized on 25 November,2021 in association with CSI,Mumbai chapter on “Graphology: The case Study on Handwriting” was organized on by Nirav Vasa, professionally qualified as a Certified Forensic Handwriting Verification Expert, Certified Fingerprint analyst (FBI technique) Certified Question Document Examiner, Certified Forensic Psychologist, Certified Criminal Profiler, Certified Forensic Accountant & Fraud Examiner, Vimala Alphabet Practitioner and a Certified Graphologist having an experience of total 18 years in the field of handwriting/signature analysis and verification. Practicing with Bombay High Court primarily and taking pan India cases
He discussed about handwriting analysis and about graphology. Hand writing is also termed as brain prints and brain writing .He discussed about many interesting topics like revelations from brain prints, the fixed and the unfixed traits in the writing, graphology and the three facets of man, revelations about physical aspect, attitudes and about emotional/mental aspect.
The session was very much interesting and students have enjoyed and learned a lot from the session. The way he explained the personality by seeing the signature and handwriting was a very interesting.
A guest lecture on “Incident Response in Cyber Security”
A guest lecture was organized on 16 October,2021 in association with CSI,Mumbai chapter on “Incident Response in Cyber Security” by Ms. Shweta Trpathi, Infosec Security Practitioner & Cyber Security expert, actively participating in the large scope of high impact cyber breaches like Malware attack and managing Incident Response workflow and activities to support response and remediation. She discussed about the cyber security and it’s framework, attack life cycle and incident response life cycle. How it’s affects people in real life by giving real life example and how to keep strong password to protect our data.
The session was very much interesting and students have enjoyed and learned a lot from the session.
CSI 2020-2021
FDP
In association with CSI, Mumbai Chapter Online FDP was organized between 15-16 January, 2021 themed on “Blockchain & Advanced Java“. In this 2-day FDP faculty members were introduced to various technologies. On day 1 they were introduced to Blockchain technology and were taught about Blockchain and its features and also learned about bit coin and its usage through some hands-on. They were also introduced to solidity programming of Blockchain. On day 2, faculties learned about angular and node.js and executed the hands on from it. They were also introduced to Java Spring Framework.
It was a great learning experience for all of the faculty members.
SYNAPSE
CSI Mumbai Chapter members, Dr Suresh Shan and Mr. Arbind Prabhu mentored students on their projects at SYNAPSE-2020 which commenced in August 2020 and concluded on 30 January,2021.

A guest lecture on “Preventing Cyber Attacks in Pandemics” by Mr. Smith Gonsalves, India’s One of the Youngest Cyber Security Evangelist & Information Security Professional Cyber Security ,Advisor to MitKat Advisory Services & Technical Advisor for The Indian ISAC, was arranged in association with CSI, Mumbai chapter on 31 October,2019. He discussed about the new normal of remote working, which has put the focus firmly on cyber security, trust and protecting data. COVID-19 has forced the hand of businesses in several sectors by requiring them to confront their digital preparedness in tackling cyber threats head on.
The session was very much interesting and students have enjoyed and learned a lot from the session.

TechNext India 2019 Annual Industry and Academia Conference and Awards
TechNext India 2019 Annual Industry and Academia Conference and Awards was organized by CSI – Mumbai Chapter at Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research, Matunga, Mumbai on 28th September 2019.
Faculty members and students from TIMSCDR participated in the event. At this conference TIMSCDR won the prestigious awards in the following categories:
a.) Best Institute of the year: Introduction of innovative new programs and courses
b.) Best Student Project: Ms. Shilpa Pareek & Mr. Rahul Singh (Project name:: Mobile Antitheft :Lost & Found)
The conference ended with the Panel discussion on Developing technology ecosystem for academics moderated by Dr. Suresh Shan, Secretary-CSI Mumbai and CTO, Mahindra Finance. Dr Vinita Gaikwad, Director, TIMSCDR along with other eminent panelists from academia and industry who put forward their great insights on the need of embracing the modern technology for a bright ecosystem of academics.
Educational Summit organized by InfoComm India
Educational Summit organized by InfoComm India in association with CSI, Mumbai chapter was attended by Faculty members on 19th September, 2019 at Bombay Exhibition Centre (NESCO), Mumbai.
The Summit was themed on “Homeland Security and Defense” and consisted of talks on “Computer Emergency Response Team” by Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director General, Indian (CERT-In) Govt. of India and “Wireless System Design Philosophy” by Balwant Singh, Sr. Application Engineer, Harman International India Pvt. Ltd.
The Summit also consisted of multiple panel discussions consisting of panelists of industrial domain experts on different related topics like Homeland Security and Defense, Cyber Resilience in Modern Cyber Age Warriors etc.
workshop on Data Science & Analytics
A two day workshop on Data Science & Analytics in association with CSI was arranged on 5th and 6th July, 2019 at TIMSCDR .The trainer was Ms.Anjali Mogre from Principal consultant Atos Origin with two decades of rich corporate experience as software professional. During the workshop students got a good exposure to Data Science and Analytics and learned about the current market trends of Big data, AI and its applications. The workshop also had Hands on sessions on R and Tableau. It was a great learning experience for all the participants.
CSI 2018-2019
TIMSCDR is CSI member since 2009 and the extension of CSI Accreditation for 353 students of TIMSCDR has been done for the period 1 July 2018 – 30 June 2019.
A guest lecture by Dr. Arbind Prabhu, VP (IT), from Reliance Industries was arranged in association with CSI, Mumbai chapter on 6 September 2018. He discussed about a generic project life cycle and how it is implemented in projects from different fields.
It was organized at TIMSR-Study Skill Center and attended by students of semester I and III. It was a very interesting and interactive session students learned a lot from it.

Four faculty members from TIMSCDR attended the event between 18 – 19 September 2018 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai
As part of educational summit held in association with the InfoComm India, CSI organised powered packed conference sessions along with the exhibition platform for Professional AudioVisual (Pro-AV) and Experiential Communications technologies between 18 – 19 September 2018 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai . The sessions were fresh perspectives on the fast expanding role of IT in domains of Healthcare, Government and Defense.
The welcome speech was given by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Secretary, Dept of Defence Production, Govt of India. The sessions were enriched with talks from invited speakers that included Dr. Balsing Rajput, Superintendent of Police, Cyber, Maharashtra, Mumbai, Mr. Ravikishor Mundada,CEO , Center of Excellence in Cyber Security, Govt of Karnataka ,Mr. Rakesh Barik, Partner- Head of Technology Consulting, Deloitte India ,Mr. Lalit Popli, Head-IT, ICICI Prudential and many more.

A One day hands on workshop on Python arranged jointly by CSI, Mumbai chapter and IIT-B, FOSSEE to hone the programming skills in Python and to improve skills and employment opportunities in Python for Students. It was organized on 26th August 2017 and the duration was from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. 20 students and faculty members participated in the said event. The event constituted of hands-on training, video tutorials and tests after every module was being covered throughout the day.

InfoComm Summit was organized by CSI (Computer Society of India) in association with Infocomm on 26th September at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon (NESCO). The theme for the summit was “Security for Defence Organizations and ICT for Government and Public sector”. The faculty staff along with students went for the summit. The programme was enriched with talks from invited speakers that included the keynote address on “Cyber Security Paradigm in Defence” by Mr.Brijesh Singh, IPS and Head of Maharashtra Police and Govt.of Maharashtra. Then Mr. RohanPatil, Head-Ops, VILabs, VISTA InfoSec took over the session on the topic “Cyber Attacks on Drone”. FinallyMr.RiteshBhatia,Cyber Crime Investigator andCyber Security Expert concluded the session with the topic DARKWEB-Introduction to the dirty and disturbing side of the internet.
The summit also had exhibitions on various products. Many small and big companies from Information security domain had set up their stalls. Not only students but many industry experts from all over the world took active participation in the said event.

A guest lecture by honourable chairman of CSI ,Mumbai chapter Mr. Abraham Koshy was arranged on 25th September,2017 .He discussed in general about the association of CSI with TIMSCDR and also talked in length about the opportunities in different Open Source Architecture. He mentioned how CSI,Mumbai chapter can be instrumental in conducting a course on TOGAF,an open source enterprise architecture .

TIMSCDR and Computer Society of India-Mumbai (CSI) in association with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) -Academic Interface Programme (AIP) organized a Mock Placement Session on 18th January, 2018.This was an intercollegiate session where students from different colleges in Mumbai participated in the mock placement processes.

To impart IoT knowledge to the faculties a 5 day workshop was conducted on “Advanced Internet of Things” at the institute between 6-10 February 2017. Computer Society of India(CSI) was the sponsor for this workshop and M/s Makerville Solutions were training partner. The workshop was very informative covering all teoretical aspects of IoT as well as a hands on training was also conducted using Amazon AWS.

9th International Trade Fair and Conference was organized by CSI Mumbai chapter at Goregaon(E), between 30 September 2016 – 2 October 2016 and around 40 students and faculty members from TIMSCDR participated in the said event and won accolades from different event partners.

Computer Society of India-Mumbai (CSI) in association with Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay hosted a 2-day Annual Academic Conference and awards for Academia “TechNext India 2017" on 14 – 15th January 2017, at the Victor Menezes Convention Centre, IIT Bombay. The faculty members and students from TIMSCDR participated in the event. At this conference TIMSCDR won the prestigious Distinguished College Award.
